Why Faithbook?

Filed under: Faithbooking — FYDawn @ 10:48 am

To answer this question, I referred to Deuteronomy 8:1-19.  This passage tells us not to forget the Lord our God. Each day is a new day, with new experiences, new opportunities, new trials-over time it can be easy to forget. So how can we remember the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord? (Psalm 78:4) Faithbooking. Whether it is in your scrapbooks with pictures and journaling and expressing yourself with your God-given talent or in a journal documenting your memories, thoughts and explorations of your faith! We are told in Deuteronomy 11:19, “Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Children enjoy flipping through scrapbooks, reading about our thoughts on this particular day. What better way to teach our children our faith, by documenting our faith right next to their picture! Even if your kids are not old enough to read yet, you can look through your albums together and tell them. When they grow up and leave home, send them with a keepsake album of their own that they can turn to in those tough times on their own! And remember… Verse 2 really stuck out to me, “to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.” In times of trial, God was working in you and preparing you for what was to come. It is important to document the trials as well and to remember how God pulled you through. What greater testimony for your kids as they face trials of their own! Even if you don’t have kids, what about other family members and friends. Of course, you will want to remember all that God as done for you and your family-not just your trials. Remembering in every situation God is in it with us. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Faither of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 Remembering in all occasions…in birth, God is the giver of life…in death…to be in the presence of the Lord…in marriage…God is Love…in any accomplishment…God has given you the ability…Remember God when your belly is full…Remember God when things are going good. There are many more occurrences in the Bible that we are told to remember. How will you remember?

Seeking Inspiration and Motivation!

Filed under: Getting Creative — DanniL @ 1:05 pm

I looked at my scrapping table yesterday with more than a little bewilderment… there are 3 unfinished projects sitting there… How’d that happen?  Where’s my mojo gone?

I’m used to sitting down and working on a project (be it altered item or layout) until it’s complete.  But I’ve taken on bigger projects, larger scale, and they take more than one sitting to get them complete.  No sooner do I get on a roll with the creative juices finally flowing, than I have to pack up and finish for the day.  I think that frustration has stolen my motivation!!

So what am I going to do to get my mojo back?  Good question!!  I’ve pulled out my stash of scrapbooking magazines… I’m trawling the net looking at sites and articles and layouts and anything else I can get into.  The scrapping challenges at She-essence are also really useful for new ideas and motivation.

Now I’ve just got to put a plan into action and I’ll be right.

A dedicated time for scrapping (each week if possible) is going to be essential.  I need to work on one project until it’s finished, or until I can’t go any further with it for that session (ie. Waiting for paints to dry etc.), then I can start on the next.  Most importantly, I need to remember why I’m doing this.  It’s not because I have to, or need to, it’s because I WANT to!!  And because I love the feeling that I’ve created something for my children and (hopefully) future generations of our family.

What about you?  What do you do to overcome a lull in inspiration and motivation?  Do challenges and viewing other layouts inspire and motivate you?  Or do you have an entirely different way of dealing with lack of inspiration?  Let us know… the more ideas the better!!

Until next time ;)

Website Review: Scrapbooks Alive

Ever heard of Video Scrapbooking? Well I hadn’t either until I met Kim from Scrapbooks Alive. I am so very intrigued by this concept, however having not even tried digital scrapbooking as yet I’mnot sure how I’d go with creating a Video Scrapbook.

Kim’s website Scrapbooks Alive is still being constructed but her blog http://www.scrapbooksalive.com/blog/ is building to be a great reference point for video scrapbooking. She has quite a few examples there already.

I can’t wait until her site is ready, it’ll be a must for all scrapbookers that’s for sure. Which is why I wanted to bring it to your attention now, so that you already know it exists and will be waiting in anticpation for the site to launch.
